Venue of the Month:

The Brudenell Social Club (Leeds)

A world-class grassroots venue with the best April lineup in the UK.

Founded in 1913 by Leeds locals seeking a sanctuary of camaraderie, the Brudenell Social Club began as a humble wooden hall. By the late 1970s, time had weathered the building, and in 1978 the Brudenell was reborn in brick and neon, unveiling a cabaret-style concert room that swiftly became one of the most popular clubs in the area.

Malcolm and Pat Clark took the helm in 1992 and rescued the club from financial ruin. Under their care, the club transformed into a grassroots music haven. When noise complaints threatened to silence its stage in 2005, the community rallied with a fundraiser to keep the music playing.

Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand played surprise secret gigs, and The Cribs turned Christmas into a raucous three-night “Cribsmas” in 2007. The club’s 100th birthday was marked by icons like The Fall and The Wedding Present paying tribute to the Brudenell’s century of song. Countless artists have cut their teeth on the Brudenell’s hallowed stage - truly a temple of sound, kept alive by the passion of its people.

The Brudenell Social Club stage is a rite of passage.
